Pingipung is home to artists like Anadol, Sven Kacirek, M.Rux or Y Bülbül, who create the Pingipung sound which invites for dancing in the most unexpected moments. The label has been founded in Hamburg in 2002 by four friends as a collective which has now turned into one of the main names in german Electronica. Especially the well-curated Pingipung podcast series (since 2012) has gained quite some international following. In 2022, the 20th anniversary, co-founder Andi Otto will play a series of DJ sets equipped with only one record bag containing the entire Pingipung catalogue of 75 releases. Pingipung will release a 2x10’’ compilation in autumn 2022 to celebrate the anniversary with their fans. “XX, Pingipung” features new, exclusive tracks by artists such as Tolouse Lowtrax, The Notwist, Anadol, RVDS, and many more. Andi Otto performs electronic music with the cello. He has released six albums on labels such as Multi Culti, Shika Shika, City Centre Offices and Pingipung. Together with the Indian singer MD Pallavi, he creates decelerated electronic dance music with a "mystically futuristic sound design", as the Igloomag puts it. He used the "Springintgut" moniker for his musical output until 2014. On stage, Andi Otto plays a selfmade sensor-extended cello bow which he has developed in collaboration with STEIM in Amsterdam. This instrumental system which he calls "Fello" allows for gestural performance of the electronically processed sounds of the amplified cello. Andi Otto regularly composes for theatre and dance performances in which he also appears as a performer, and he closely collaborates with musicians such as F.S. Blumm or Perera Elsewhere. His work has taken him around the world, for example to Rwanda, India and Japan before the pandemic. Andi Otto is also a DJ and one of the founders of the Pingipung label. Il laboratorio nasce come prosecuzione dell’esperienza condotta dal collettivo Mediterraneo Radicale, operativo in Torino e in altre città italiane, diventato successivamente etichetta e piattaforma produttiva nota come Mediterranean Creative Records (M.C.R.). Pietra Tonale si forma con l’intento di costruire un percorso sulla musica improvvisata, integrandola con diversi linguaggi compositivi: dalla musica processuale all’improvvisazione programmata, dalla scrittura non convenzionale all’improvvisazione radicale. Il collettivo funziona inoltre come un bacino di risorse musicali dal quale i componenti possono attingere per poter produrre lavori personali o integrati nell’ambito collettivo.
